INFO

My name is Shannon Coombs, I am 28 years of age doing everything I can to live my dream. From a very young age music has always been a passion and inspired me, I love current music but also have a guilty pleasure for 80's tunes and I like to include a mix of songs in my set list when performing.

At the age of 13 I joined Eminor Pop Academy and I sang as part of a large group that covered various songs with simple dance routines. We did 2-3 shows a year performing for friends and family within a public audience that in itself always brought excitement and great nerves. I remained as part of Eminor until I was 16 when I had to leave due to reaching the maximum age limit to be part of the group. I had a choice to move on to 'En mass' which was the adult group of Eminor but being in a group just wasn't for me anymore.

I guess you could say I then took a break? I had time out of performing and singing and concentrated on my job. That was all until I was 18 and realised singing is what I just had to do. I contacted my local music bar to see whether I could grab a chance at doing a gig for them, I was successful and given a date.

Since that gig back in 2011 I have got myself a fan base and had many more successful gigs.

In September 2012 I entered a singing competition called 'Open Mic UK' I was greatly successful and followed on to the regional final which was held in Fareham in October, remaining successful I then made it in to the area final which was held in Portsmouth in December. After my performance of Alicia Keys - If I Ain't Got You, I was so nervous and unsure as to if I had done enough to get in to the grand final. To my greatest surprise I did it! Out of 22 area finalists I won my place at the grand final which was held in London at the IndigO2 on January 19th 2013. Unfortunately I didn't win the competition but the experience was amazing.

In August 2014 I made it on to Channel 4's show, The Singer Takes It All, hosted by Alan Carr. I made the top 10 and was invited to the studio for the live show. I spent my day in wardrobe and hair and makeup, rehearsing, rehearsing, rehearsing... What a day! I met so many amazing people; it's fair to say I was 'living the dream' ... Unfortunately due to the show being live and the running time tight, myself and two others didn't make it on to the live show that night, however; that experience is one I will never forget. My dream was so close - I will not give up!

I am going to continue chasing my dream and will take any opportunity given to me to perform and get myself out there and hopefully one day.. One day I will make it!
